The Coca-Cola Company: Social Media Principles

The Coca-Cola Company has recently put on their website a whole document explaining the social media policies that seemed to be quite new to me in many aspects.

The vision of the Coca-Cola Company to create sustainable growth is according to some values as stated on their website:

  1. Leadership
  2. Integrity
  3. Collaboration
  4. Accountability
  5. Passion
  6. Diversity
  7. Quality

These values are stated to show their dedication to their product that they’re producing in terms of quality, doing things right, developing, and commitment. For customers and companies reading these values they will instantly recognize the companies visions, missions and their perspective of the product they are producing.

The Five Core Values of the Company in the Online Social Media Community:
  1. Transparency: Showing the readers online vividly which pages are controlled by the company and avoid any manipulating acts.
  2. Protection: Mentioning how they store, use, and collect.
  3. Respect: of trademark, copyrights, rights of publicity, and other third party rights on the online social media space.
  4. Responsibility: of the use of technology
  5. Utilization: of best practices from all domains and insure the social media policies remain current and up-to-date.
In addition to all that was said, there are many other policies related to their Expectations for Associates’ Personal Behavior in Online Social Media and their expectations for online spokespeople. These policies highlight the adherence to the code of business conduct and other policies, refraining from tarnishing the companies image in any way. The company has access to online accounts and posts being posted constantly, so any negative comment or picture you post can be easily viewed by the company, and making yourself as part of the company in a certain position can possibly cause conflicts or problems from the users. The internet isn’t a safe environment, so you are always watched.
All policies also highlight how we have to be a good asset and a main one to the company by following the rules and spreading the good word concerning the company. Anything posted by an individual should be revised before posting whether its misleading or manipulative because every word is watched .
With that being said, all the policies concerning social media are present in this link:
Some social media policies seemed quite surprising to me because the company is as careful as making sure there aren’t any signs of plagiarism, or a slight copying of their product in any way (trademark…), and making sure they don’t violate anyone’s rights or take credit for anyone’s work.
All in all, the take away from the social media policies of the Coca-Cola Company could be that everything on the internet is permanent so if we are doubtful of a post, believe we are violated rights, or tarnishing the image of ANY company then we should refrain from posting because even when you delete the post. there is still a record of everything deleted. Everything on the internet is permanent.

Tumblr: Enter into a World of Imagination

When you think of Tumblr you think of that vast social media site that most people seem so attached to.

That website where you can express your thoughts and others thoughts through videos, audios, text, quotes, links, photo, and chat.

Definition of Tumblr according to Wikipedia:

Tumblr (stylized in its logo as tumblr.) is a microblogging platform and social networking website founded by David Karp and owned by Yahoo! Inc. The service allows users to post multimedia and other content to a short-form blog. Users can follow other users’ blogs, as well as make their blogs private. Much of the website’s features are accessed from the “dashboard” interface, where the option to post content and posts of followed blogs appear.

Tumblr has been first developed in 2006 and was first launched in 2007. The founder of Tumblr is David Karp and he has made Tumblr a huge success since the date of the launch until this very day.

Yahoo! has acquired tumblr for 1.1 billion dollars in cash on May 20, 2013.

The usage of Tumblr is major around the world:

  • As of November 1, 2014, Tumblr hosts over 209.3 million blogs and more than 94.9 billion posts in total.
  • In April 2013 the website received more than 13 billion global page views.
  • As of November 1, 2014, over 69 million posts were created on the site each day.

Nowadays, Tumblr photos seem to have their own trademark or slogan. As soon as you hear about a “Tumblr Photo” you instantly are fimilar with its look, vibe, or sense of photography.

Here are some examples of Tumblr photos:

Tumblr quotes also seem the most creative and the most kinds of quotes out there that go viral over night. All kinds of quotes from different categories like: life, love, inspiration, postive, happiness, wisdom, education, family, success, motivational…etc.

Some quotes like:

It is not a lack of love, but a lack of friendship that makes unhappy marriages.
—  Friedrich Nietzsche
A friend is someone who knows all about you and still loves you.
—  Elbert Hubbard
Don’t walk behind me; I may not lead. Don’t walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk beside me and be my friend.
—  Albert Camus
There is nothing I would not do for those who are really my friends. I have no notion of loving people by halves, it is not my nature.
—  Jane Austen
A social media within many other social medias:
Just like any other thing in the world whether its a product, celebrity, book, movie, TV shows, services…etc. Tumblr also is present on many social media websites to remain current, widespread, and well known. Some websites such as:

Everything You Need At Your Fingertips- Samsung Mobile

What does every person need in this world other than having everything they want all in one device?

Things like:

  1. Being in contact with all your friends and family just by a simple touch of a button.
  2. Having access to all kinds of social media on a small surface(i.e facebook, twitter, pinterest, youtube…etc.)
  3. Making quick calls.
  4. Sending long messages.
  5. Taking pictures and videos of your unforgettable moments
  6. Playing your favourite games.
  7. Getting reminders on your most important events or celebrations (i.e. reminder about your best friend’s birthday).
  8. Jotting down quick notes when necessary.
  9. Access to differently catogorized applications (news, online shopping, photography…etc.).

The Samsung Mobile has all you need at your fingertips!

Samsung touch mobiles first became popular when the Samsung SII first was released in May 2011, having a display -at the time- like no other seen before.

Samsung has become quickly popular with its S family (Samsung S5 being released at the beginning of the year) and Note family (Samsung Note 4 being recently released a couple of months ago). Some individuals preferred “leaving behind” the ordinary Apple touch phones and going for the Samsung which noticeably showed that it included more features and a one of a kind design.

Samsung Galaxy S5

The Samsung campaign is ongoing and continues to evolve over the years. We notice that Samsung has an exclusive Social Media Channel to maximize its interactions with customers all over the world. From these Social Media Channels people from around the world have the opportunity to be updated with the latest Samsung news, releases, updates, awards, perks, tips and tricks, and many more information. People can be always up to date by following, liking or staying connected to the following social media accounts made by the Samsung company:

  1. Facebook (Samsung USA, Samsung Support, Sumsung Mobile, Samsung Camera USA, Samsung TV USA, SPSN USA, Samsung Home Appliances,)
  2. Twitter ( SamsungTweets, Samsung Support, SamsungSPSN, SamsungMobileUS, SamsunBizUSA, SamsungSemiUS, SamsungAustin)
  3. Flickr (Samsung USA, Samsung Mobile)
  4. Youtube (Samsung USA Tube, Samsung Mobile USA)
  5. Google + (Samsung USA, Samsung Support USA, Samsung Mobile USA)
  6. Pinterest (Samsung Home, Samsung Mobile US)

Social Media Logotype Background

We notice development and a larger fan base when it comes to the Samsung Mobiles. However, this Social Media campaign is missing some improvements like having a wider range of connection to other social media websites:

  1. Nowadays a very popular social media known as “Instagram” is widely used by many people around the world. No Instagram link or name is available on the Samsung website which shows that no name is present.
  2. Blogging websites: WordPress, Blogger, Tumblr, Medium, Quora…etc.
  3. Linkedin
  4. Vimeo

The Battle of Fast Food

Regis Philbin said:

It’s almost seems as though there’s a battle going on between the public and all the fast-food establishments, and, believe me, I think it’s very tasty food.

Nowadays, our generation prefers eating “Fast Food” rather than eating “Healthy” or “Green” food.

Why is that?

Fast food contain a high amount of trans fats, sugar and sodium. No one can resist the beautiful deep fried taste of french fries, chicken nuggets, or fish sticks. It’s like the secret recipe to every delicious food, is to have it deep fried.

However, the real reason why we eat fast food is because of the following reasons:

1) It’s cheap: Teenagers nowadays won’t go for fine dining or one of the highest rated five star restaurants in the state. Instead, they will go to the better alternative that will meet both their allowance and taste needs.

2) It’s convenient: This particular kind of food is called “Fast Food” for the simple reason of being prepared quickly. An employee, student or ordinary individual in a hurry won’t order a plate of medium rare steak or seasoned fish just for the simple reason of it not being arranged as quickly as they want. Instead, they order food that might take as little as 2 minutes time to be prepared rather than an hour.

3) It’s tasty: Despite all the constant rants we hear about fast food being unhealthy and the main source to obesity we still prefer to ear it due to its irresistibly savory taste that most people prefer to eat rather than a bowl of salad.

There’s something you’ve really never thought of… what is truly going in your body once you eat fast food?

To answer concisely I will state a study made on the typical McDonalds fries and burger:

A McDonalds fries and burgers were placed in one jar and a home made version of fries and burgers were placed in the other. The experiment was made over 4 months and it was shown that the home made burgers and fries rot over the months and accumulated mold on them while the McDonalds fries and burgers remained looking the same way they looked four months ago (colour and appearance wise). This shows that external chemicals are injected in the fast food we eat.

In conclusion, no person can stop themselves from eating fast food but we can always minimize it as much as we can.

First Day Blogging

The idea of blogging never occurred to me until I enrolled in the “Social Media in Business” course in the University of Antonine in Lebanon. Blogging never really interested me before because I had other social media websites that occupied some of my time during the day. Social Media websites like Facebook, Instagram and other websites. Now that I have a more vivid understanding about blogging and its objectives, I have the desire more to blog about different topics like things related to current issues, life, religion, different hobbies and many other important topics.
